Estelle

I chose this profession after being a Registered Nurse for six years…

…because I was impressed by being able to focus on prevention and repair rather than intervention, as a health care practitioner.

I have been at Trikinetic since 1996 but graduated from the West Coast College of Massage in September 1992. At the beginning of my career I had the opportunity to work for 4 years in a multidisciplinary complementary medicine clinic with practitioners focused on health promotion.

There, at the Tzu Chi Institute,I practiced Massage Therapy alongside a team of traditional, regulated practitioners who were using alternative methods.

My preferred massage techniques are Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial mobilization, and Cranio-Sacral Therapy

My philosophy is that most healing occurs when the client is out of “stress mode” and their body is allowed to fix itself. Most people find treatments relaxing and even sedating. I try to include treatment to the whole body, if possible.

I am delighted to find my client base beginning to include more geriatric and pediatric clients. They are the least likely to recieve massage therapy, but we find extremely positive results. The elders are so glad to have relief from longstanding problems, and the young can prevent future problems as they are growing.

I have also taken courses in myofascial release and scar tissue management. My interest in human anatomy study has prompted me to take two human anatomy dissection workshops, and I have attended the two Body Worlds exhibits here in Vancouver.

I encourage patients to come for Massage Therapy every week for acute conditions, and every month for chronic conditions and maintenance.

I work Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays from 9am – 5 pm

I have been married since 2003 and have a house in Pitt Meadows. When I’m not at the clinic, I do gardening, yard and home repairs, and enjoy our dogs and cats. I love my rain barrels and rolling composter. I play hand-percussion at Golden Ears United Church, have taken Tabla lessons, and tried to study bass guitar briefly. I sing tenor, but not in a formalized choir or group. My favourite animal is the crow.
